Rockstar… dude, what happened to you guys?
They've gone from edgy to over the edge! Manhunt 2 has been rated by the ESRB and has been given an AO rating. Most violent games get an M rating – 17 and up. AO means 18 and older. What's the difference in a year? Stores like WalMart don't carry AO rated games. Also… Nintendo and Sony don't allow AO games to be released on their system! (financial disaster!) (AO but no boobs?)
Not only that, but Manhunt 2 has been banned in the UK and Ireland! (banned!)
WTF! Rockstar, what did you make? It sounds like the anti-christ in video game form. Avert your eyes!
This isn't the first time something like this has happened. Remember GTA's mini-sex game? That was a huge scandal. That was Rockstar too!
Most of what I can find on this game is pretty vague. I didn't even know about it until all these AO fiasco reports started coming in. It's a PS2, PSP, and Wii console game — not exactly systems I follow too closely. Rockstar is screwed now. They can appeal the decision, but I doubt it will help. The only other option is to go back and change the game! That will totally screw with their deadline.
What I want to know: how violent is this game? Not only is it getting AO ratings, countries are banning it altogether! If there was something above AO, do you think it would get that? “Rated BE for Banned Everywhere!”
Personally, I don't like overly violent games. Despite Halo's M rating the most disturbing thing you can really see in that game is someone tea-bagging you. haha =P (which, when you think about it, is kinda funny — PWNED!). But violence in video games is a fine line. When it gets too obscene it just gets dumb. I don't care much for GTA IV even though it's going to be on 360 mainly because I think it's lame. Hijacking cars and selling drugs isn't fun to me, so I don't play that game.
The real problem here is Jack Thomson: He's a douche that blames all the world's problems on video games. Terrorism, school shootings, global warming, pollution, his impotence, athlete's foot, hemroids, racism, world war two, the holocaust… ALL of it is caused by video games! He tries to sue companies for making video games. He's an idiot…. but you just KNOW he's going to bring up Manhunt 2 for EVERYTHING now. A game that probably won't even be released! “Iraq is still in shambles because of Manhunt 2 for the Nintendo Wii. Pay attention to me!!”
